Meet Priya Ravindra, Founder and CEO of Punar. Recognised as one of Success Magazine’s Top 25 Change Makers in the World for 2024, Priya is a trailblazer dedicated to creating meaningful impact for women and the planet. Her life purpose is to lift women around her and by launching Punar she is aiming to bring this purpose to fruition.
From moving to Australia alone as a teenager to becoming a global thought leader, Priya’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and unwavering commitment to a better future. Today, she stands at the forefront of a movement that not only addresses environmental challenges but also uplifts women globally.
Priya is on a mission to create 10,000 safe jobs for women globally.
Punar is one of the world’s first companies to seamlessly weave gender equality and sustainability together while positively disrupting the gifting and fashion textiles industries. Under Priya’s visionary leadership, this multi award winning start up is creating safe jobs equal pay and a supportive work environment to all artisans. Every piece handcrafted is a story of hope, resilience and environmental stewardship.
Priya’s journey as a changemaker is rooted in her 20 years of expertise in technology, leadership, and social entrepreneurship. Before founding Punar, she built a distinguished career managing multi-million-dollar projects across banking, higher education, and government sectors. A passionate advocate for gender diversity and inclusion, Priya has consistently broken barriers throughout her career. She has served as an elected board member of the Victorian ICT Network for Women and as a board director of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Melbourne Chapter. Priya is an accredited Company Director (GAICD), having completed the rigorous Australian Institute of Company Directors course.
Priya is also the author of a best seller collaborative book "Voices of Influence: The untold stories of remarkable speakers".
Priya lives in Melbourne with her daughter and husband. When not working, she enjoys yoga, art, writing, travelling and some adrenaline fuelling activities like Bungee jumping and zip lining.
